Meet Danielle Ganze

Virginia Director of Business Development and Partnerships

Danielle first fell in love with early childhood education while working hands-on with young learners in classrooms across Virginia. Today, she channels that passion into supporting educators every step of the way as they implement the Learning Beyond curriculum and uphold CLASS and VQB5 standards. When she’s not working, Danielle enjoys spending time with her own “early learners” and watching them explore the world around them.

What Virginia Directors Juggle in a VQB5 Year

If your program receives Child Care Subsidy, Mixed Delivery or other public early childhood funding, it takes part in VQB5 every year. That means local CLASS observations in each classroom in fall and spring, external observations at the site, and curriculum details entered in LinkB5. VQB5 looks at two things: teacher-child interactions and use of a VDOE-approved curriculum aligned to the ELDS. A paper binder helps with neither when a new teacher starts mid-year. Learning Beyond Paper puts an ELDS-aligned plan and in-the-moment coaching on every teacher’s phone, so the room on observation day looks like the room on any other Tuesday.

What Virginia Programs Get in One Subscription

Learning Beyond Paper is the only all-in-one early childhood curriculum with a virtual instructional coach built in. Virginia programs get a full year of lesson plans for five age groups, English and Spanish materials, 49.5 hours of on-demand professional learning and alignment to the ELDS, all for one school-wide price.

Virginia ELDS Alignment From Birth to Five

Virginia uses one set of standards from birth to kindergarten entry: the Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS), which replaced the Foundation Blocks and the Milestones of Child Development. LBP's Virginia alignment documents map infant, toddler, preschool and pre-K lessons to the ELDS, so teachers and directors can check which standards a week of lessons covers.

ELBY — A Virtual Instructional Coach for Every Teacher

ELBY sits inside every lesson and gives teachers practical prompts: how to adapt an activity for a child who needs more support, how to stretch it for a child who is ready, and what to watch for and note as children play.

Embedded Professional Development — 49.5 Hours Included

New hires in a Virginia classroom can teach a solid lesson on their first day. LBP University adds 49.5 hours of on-demand professional learning inside the platform at no extra cost, so training fits around the schedule instead of pulling teachers out of rooms.

Every Age Group in Your Virginia Program, Covered

Virginia’s center standards define infants as birth to 16 months and toddlers as 16 months to two years. LBP’s five age bands run from birth through pre-K, so every group in your program is covered by one subscription.

Why Virginia Directors Choose a Digital Curriculum

For Virginia child day centers, family day homes and pre-K classrooms, four practical problems come up again and again: showing standards alignment, keeping teaching steady when staff change, reaching families in their language, and keeping costs predictable.

Alignment you can show, not just claim

LBP's Virginia alignment files show which ELDS indicators each lesson supports. When a licensing inspector or your Ready Region asks how daily plans connect to Virginia's standards, you can point to the document instead of building one.

Steady teaching through staff changes

Virginia center staff need at least 16 hours of training a year, yet new hires still teach on day one. ELBY coaches them inside each activity, and LBP University offers 49.5 hours of on-demand learning they can complete between shifts.

Materials families can read

About 18% of Virginians speak a language other than English at home (ACS 2024). LBP includes activity descriptions and family materials in English and Spanish at no extra charge.

One bill for every classroom

$199 a month covers every classroom at a Virginia center or family day home, from infants to pre-K: one login, one renewal date and no per-teacher fees.

How a Virginia Program Gets Started With LBP

Four steps take you from free trial to every classroom teaching from the same ELDS-aligned plan, with curriculum details ready to enter at VQB5 registration.
Start a 30-day free trial

Every classroom and age group in your Virginia program gets the full curriculum as soon as you sign up.

Teachers sign in and teach the same day

A teacher opens LBP on their phone, picks Week 1 for their age group, reads the setup and ELBY's coaching tip, and starts the activity. No binder and no trip to the copier.

Plans show their ELDS links as teachers use them
LBP's alignment files tie each lesson to the Virginia ELDS indicators it supports, so your lesson plans double as a record of standards-based teaching. That helps when you report curriculum use for each classroom in LinkB5, meet with your Ready Region, or walk a licensing inspector through the daily schedule.

A Curriculum Built Around Virginia's ELDS and VQB5

Virginia now runs child care licensing through the Department of Education, and every publicly funded program serving children from birth to five takes part in one quality system, VQB5. VQB5 looks at two things: the quality of teacher-child interactions, measured with CLASS, and the use of a VDOE-approved curriculum aligned to the ELDS. Public funding reaches a large share of young children. In 2024-25 the Virginia Preschool Initiative served 22% of the state’s 4-year-olds, and Mixed Delivery and the Child Care Subsidy Program added 14,132 more 3- and 4-year-olds (NIEER State of Preschool 2025). Learning Beyond Paper is VDOE-approved, keys every activity to CLASS and maps lessons to the ELDS for all five age groups, so one plan can serve a subsidy-funded infant room and a pre-K classroom alike.

Virginia Directors' Questions About LBP

Straight answers on ELDS alignment, VQB5, licensing, VPI, subsidy and cost for Virginia programs.

Yes. LBP’s Virginia alignment documents map lessons for all five age groups, from infants to pre-K, to Virginia’s Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS), the birth-to-five guidelines from the Board of Education that replaced the Foundation Blocks and the Milestones of Child Development. You can open the alignment files on our curriculum alignments page. Lessons are also aligned to the Head Start ELOF.

VQB5 rates publicly funded programs on two indicators: teacher-child interactions, observed with CLASS®, and use of a VDOE-approved curriculum aligned to the ELDS. LBP is VDOE-approved, and every activity is keyed to CLASS so teachers know which interactions to practice. Curriculum use is optional in VQB5 but earns points, and VDOE’s stated goal is approved curriculum in every VQB5 classroom from 2026-27. LBP supports your quality work; it cannot promise a rating.

Since July 2021 the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has licensed child day centers under the Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers (8VAC20-780), with announced and unannounced visits. The Department of Social Services no longer handles licensing. LBP does not replace your licensing file, but it gives every group a written, age-appropriate daily plan, which makes it easier to show an inspector what children are doing and why.

In 2024-25 the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) served 22% of the state’s 4-year-olds, and Mixed Delivery and the Child Care Subsidy Program reached thousands more 3- and 4-year-olds in community settings (NIEER 2025 Yearbook). LBP is VDOE-approved and ELDS-aligned for pre-K, and it includes an observational assessment tool you can share with families. Requirements differ by program and locality, so confirm curriculum expectations with your school division or Ready Region.

Yes. The Child Care Subsidy Program, governed by State Board of Education rules (8VAC20-790), helps eligible families pay for care; it does not name a curriculum. The curriculum question comes through VQB5, which publicly funded programs join each year and which recognizes VDOE-approved curricula. At $199 a month for the whole site, LBP is a predictable line in a budget that depends on subsidy payments. For payment rates, ask your local subsidy office.

Virginia requires child day center staff to complete at least 16 hours of training each year, suited to the ages of the children in their care (8VAC20-780-245). Every subscription includes LBP University, 49.5 hours of on-demand professional learning. We don’t claim those hours count toward the state requirement, so check with your licensing inspector before logging them. Between trainings, ELBY coaches new teachers inside each lesson.

$199 a month covers every classroom at your site, from the infant room to pre-K. That includes ELBY, LBP University’s 49.5 hours of professional learning, English and Spanish materials, the observational assessment tool and family engagement features. There are no per-teacher or per-classroom fees. Hands-on materials kits are available through Lakeshore Learning, and our team can help with grant writing.

Yes. Activity descriptions and family engagement materials come in English and Spanish at no extra cost. That matters in a state where 18.2% of residents speak a language other than English at home (American Community Survey, 2024). Teachers can send home activity ideas in either language, so families can try at home what their child did in class.

Sign up for a 30-day free trial. Every classroom and age group at your Virginia site gets full access right away, so you can test LBP in an infant room and a pre-K room side by side. Browse the curriculum first if you like, then see how the plans and their ELDS links fit your rooms before you record curriculum use in LinkB5.

Yes. VQB5 notes that family day homes typically have one mixed-age classroom, and LBP’s five age bands let one provider plan for a baby and a four-year-old in the same space; see our family child care page. Multi-site operators get the same plans, ELBY coaching and ELDS alignment at every location, and directors can view activity across sites from one account.
